Friday night was full of good old fashioned fun. As part of the Mardi Gras celebration, Keesler AFB hosted an ameture fight night for military and cilvillians a like. As a former full contact kick boxing contender (and possibly future one too) this was right up my ally. The light weight fights weren't all that exciting, but the middle weight and heavy weights packed enough punch to make it worth the 20 dollar ticket. Or in my case, free ticket from a classmate. The most exciting fighter to watch was John Brown. He was from the 81 MSS here at Keesler. For all you non Air Force peeps, that means the 81st Mission Support Sqaudron, which means he is a personnelist. I'm a personnelist. I think you can see the connection and how that's cool. That being said, it wasn' t the coolest thing about my buddy John Brown. Far from it. John Brown must of had some sort of formal training because all four fights he fought, he knocked his opponents out. I don't just mean he knocked them to the ground and the ref counted to 10 before he could get up, I mean John Brown hit them so hard them fell flat on their backs and were out COLD!!! The last 2 fights he knocked out the poor saps in the first 10 seconds of the fight, and one of them was knocked out after 2 punches!!! ZOMG!!! I started to chant, "Knock 'em down John Brown!" and the whole crowd started chanting it with me. It was amazing! Okay, the whole crowd didn't start chanting with me, but you can imagine how cool that would have been. At the end of the fights, the winner of each weight class recieved 1000 dollars right there in the ring. It was an amazing night for a fight to make you feel right. =D So, for all you peeps out there, even though us personnelist push paper and type stuff day in day out, we still pack a punch, well, at least John Brown does.
Saturday, was a day to REMEMBER!!!! Let me tell you. I haven't cried like this since the last chic flick I watched. I tend to get emotional at chic flicks, I think that's a good thing, it let's me know that my tear ducts work incase I need to cry at a real life significant event. I don't know what it is, but I love that movie. I love the story. I love the sound track, I even have it on my ipod! I love the actors. I mean wow, I just love that movie. Which I think is a good thing too, because the movie is a love story. But more than that, everytime I watch it, which usually isn't planned; I just sort of stumble upon it sometimes, I feel better about myself. I feel like I can become a better person and do the impossible. And isn't that what life is all about, me becoming a better person. =P No, but really, Mandy Moore is a cutie in that film.
Well, I guess that's it for my random thoughts and incoherent blurbs. So, for all you out there, next time there is a local fight in town, check it out. And then go home and watch A Walk to Remember. I know you'll like it, I mean I did.
